As soon as you know you’re pregnant it’s advisable to make an appointment for a first check-up. This is to discuss health advice and tests you can have during early pregnancy to screen for abnormalities. The midwives take as much time as you need to inform you about this. You receive leaflets and also a referral for a first ultrasound scan.
The first check-up takes about 45 minutes, and subsequent check-ups take about 15 minutes. If you think you need more time because there is something you would like to discuss, you can have an extra appointment.
